What happened

The Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre (AGCC) has completed the mass valuation and reassessment of real estate across the Republic of Moldova — a process covering 6.5 million houses and apartments. Property owners have until October 31, 2026, to review the results and request corrections if necessary. After this date, appeals related to this stage of the reassessment can no longer be submitted.

Why it matters to you

The new cadastral values resulting from the reassessment will take effect on January 1, 2027, and will be used as the basis for calculating property taxes set by local authorities. In other words, the accuracy of the information recorded for your property can directly affect the amount of tax you pay next year.

It is important to note that you can request corrections only to the property's technical characteristics, such as its area or other construction details. You cannot directly challenge the cadastral value itself. However, if the technical characteristics are incorrect, the cadastral value will be recalculated automatically once the data has been corrected.

How to check your reassessment results

You have two options:

  • Online — through the geodata.gov.md geoportal, under “Property Valuation and Reassessment”, or through the Owner's Cabinet on the government EVO portal;
  • In person — at the territorial cadastral office or at your local mayor's office.

Search for your property by cadastral number, address, or directly on the map, then check the technical information displayed.

How to file a correction request

If you find an error or disagree with the displayed information, you can submit a request:

  • Online — through geodata.gov.md, in the same section;
  • By mail — by sending the request through Poșta Moldovei;
  • In person — at the territorial cadastral office.

If the request is justified, the data will be corrected and the cadastral value will be recalculated. If there are no grounds for changing the information, the existing data will remain unchanged.

If you disagree with the response, you can challenge the decision in court.

What happens after October 31

After this deadline, a request can no longer be submitted as part of this reassessment stage. This is why it is important to check your property's information by October 31, 2026: the data recorded at this stage will be used when calculating property tax for 2027.

Why it's worth checking even if you're not buying or selling right now

Even if you are not planning to sell your property anytime soon, it is important to make sure that its information is accurate. The cadastral value is used when calculating property tax, and this information may also be checked by a buyer or real estate agent in the event of a future sale.
If you're thinking about selling or buying a home, the AIR team can help you understand what these numbers mean for your transaction.
