About the Rîșcani district
Rîșcani occupies the north-eastern part of Chișinău, with Poșta Veche forming part of the district in the north of the city. Its main streets are Moscova Boulevard and Kiev, Bogdan Voievod, Alecu Russo, Studenților and Calea Orheiului Streets. Trolleybuses and buses run along them, including services to the northern suburbs.
The area is mainly made up of Soviet-era apartment blocks, with new residential complexes built along the main streets. Poșta Veche has retained its narrow streets and detached houses with plots. Rîșcani is home to Rîșcani Forest Park, with lakes on the border with Ciocana; a park with a memorial to soldiers who died in Afghanistan; the circus building; the Technical University’s teaching blocks on Studenților Street; and, closer to the city centre, the Academy of Economic Studies.
Apartments in Rîșcani suit families and students who value good transport links and nearby green spaces. Traffic is heavy around Moscova Boulevard, Alecu Russo Street and Calea Orheiului, while the northern neighbourhoods are farther from the centre and more reliant on the main roads leading out of the city.
